This slow-growing, semi-dwarf conifer features a dense, irregular pyramidal habit with layered branches. Its most striking trait is the deep green foliage that matures to a near-black hue, beautifully contrasted by bright light-green new growth in spring. Reaching 6 to 10 feet tall, it is an ideal specimen for Zen gardens, rockeries, or containers. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil, offering excellent deer resistance and hardiness in USDA zones 5 through 9.
