About Japanese Cedar Tree

Yoshino Japanese cedar is a fast-growing evergreen conifer with a pyramidal crown and blue-green needles. Its foliage can take on a slight bronze tint in winter, while the tree keeps its year-round structure. ## Form and landscape use Clemson Cooperative Extension describes Yoshino at 30–40 feet tall by 20–30 feet wide. A University of Florida IFAS fact sheet gives the same height with a narrower 15–20-foot spread, so leave generous room for the canopy. The upright tree can serve as a specimen or privacy screen. ## Growing conditions Plant in full sun or partial shade in organically rich, moist, acidic, well-drained soil. Water during dry periods and choose a site with shelter from high winds. The published USDA zone guidance spans 5 through 8 in the exact-selection sources. ## Maintenance Allow space for the mature crown and check the tree after severe weather. Remove damaged or crossing branches as needed to maintain a sound structure.
