About Easy Pick Gold II Squash

Easy Pick Gold II is a golden zucchini selected for an open, easy-to-harvest plant. Its nearly spineless stems make it easier to reach the fruit, and the parthenocarpic plants can set fruit without insect pollination, as described in [Ball Seed’s profile](https://info.ballseed.com/WEBTRACKPLANTINFO.ASPX?PHID=058806542033229&env=P). ## Fruit and harvest The glossy yellow fruits may be harvested very young, including with the flower attached, or allowed to reach about 6–10 inches. The first fruit can be ready around 45–50 days after direct seeding. Ball Seed reports intermediate resistance to papaya ringspot, watermelon mosaic, and zucchini yellow mosaic viruses. ## Growing conditions Plant in full sun in warm, fertile, well-drained soil. Allow about 3–4.3 feet of height and spread and space according to the seed supplier’s directions. An open planting makes it easier to spot fruits and pick them before they become oversized. ## Maintenance Keep soil evenly moist as plants flower and produce, and water at the base to limit wet foliage. Inspect plants regularly for insect pests and remove fruit promptly as it reaches the desired size.
