Create design onlineAbout Lemon Sun Squash
Lemon Sun is a yellow patty-pan summer squash with a compact bush habit and uniform scalloped fruits. The fruits can be picked very young or left to reach about 4–5 inches across. [PanAmerican Seed](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/058800001018317/squash-lemon-sun/) lists it as *Cucurbita pepo* and recommends growing it in the ground.
## Fruit and harvest
The disc-shaped fruits have sweet, tender flesh and a bright yellow skin without green at the blossom end. The plant also produces male flowers that can be harvested for cooking. Direct-seeded crops mature in about 40–45 days; pick fruits regularly while they are tender.
## Growing conditions
Give Lemon Sun full sun and warm, fertile, well-drained soil. Allow 24–36 inches of plant height and 3–4.5 feet of width. PanAmerican Seed recommends spacing plants 36–48 inches apart.
## Maintenance
Water steadily during flowering and fruit production, keeping the soil moist but not soggy. Check the plant regularly and harvest young fruits to encourage continued production.
