About Raywood Weeping Cypress

Raywood Weeping cypress is an irregular evergreen selection with strongly pendulous branches and bright silver-blue, aromatic foliage. Stake a young plant when an upright trunk is wanted; without support, the branches can spread and trail in an unpredictable form. ## Form and siting The American Conifer Society describes this selection as an irregular upright weeper and notes that individual plants can develop very differently. Its strongest shoots may extend 12–18 inches in a year, so choose a site that allows for ongoing growth rather than relying on a fixed mature outline. Full sun and well-drained soil are recommended in conifer references. ## Foliage and care The blue foliage supplies color through the year, and its loose, pendulous structure creates a distinctive accent in a conifer planting. A conifer reference lists this selection for USDA Zone 6; local exposure and winter conditions can affect performance. Annual tip pruning can encourage denser branching and reduce bare sections, according to the American Conifer Society. Remove dead or damaged branches and keep the root zone draining freely.
