About SeeWhy™ Scarlet Cyclamen

SeeWhy™ Scarlet is Syngenta’s red-flowered miniature Cyclamen persicum selection, code 70055977, with a compact 5–8 in. garden size and mounded form ([Syngenta](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70055977)). Kew accepts Cyclamen persicum in Primulaceae, and the breeder lists this selection for cool-season containers ([Kew](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:700765-1/general-information)). ## Seasonal Interest The breeder lists flowering from early spring through mid and late spring, as well as fall and winter. Its bright red flowers rise above rounded leaves, making the miniature scale easy to enjoy near a doorway, on a sheltered patio, or indoors in a bright room. ## Placement Choose a cool spot with bright filtered or indirect light. Syngenta lists full shade to part shade; North Carolina Extension likewise recommends bright indirect light and notes that florist cyclamen is frost tender ([NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/cyclamen-persicum/)). Keep the tuberous crown above the soil line and use a rich potting mix that drains freely. ## Water and Dormancy Check the mix before watering. Water when the surface begins to dry, directing water around the pot rather than into the crown; reduce watering as the plant enters summer dormancy, then increase again as new growth returns. Cool conditions help flowers last. ## Maintenance Remove faded flowers and yellowing leaves at their base. Allow the plant to rest when foliage naturally declines in summer, and resume regular care when fresh growth appears.
