About SeeWhy™ Wine Flame Cyclamen

SeeWhy™ Wine Flame Cyclamen is a miniature Persian cyclamen selected for a compact, mounding habit and early flowering. Syngenta lists red flowers and a garden size of 5–8 inches tall and wide. Its cool-season blooms suit shaded containers and protected garden spots through fall, winter, and spring. ## Seasonal display The SeeWhy series was selected for early flowering, compact plants, and uniformity across its colors. Syngenta lists full shade to part shade and flowering in fall, winter, and early, mid, and late spring for this cultivar (product 70055986). The small mound works near an entry, on a shaded patio, or in a cool-season container where its flowers can be seen at close range. ## Site and care Persian cyclamen grows from a tuber and is commonly treated as a cool-season flowering plant. NC State Extension recommends bright indirect light and rich, well-drained soil; water when the mix dries and keep water away from the crown. Reduce watering during its summer rest, then resume as new growth returns. The tuber is poisonous if eaten, so place it beyond children and pets. ## Hardiness Syngenta lists this cultivar for USDA Zones 7b–10b. NC State lists the species for Zones 9–11 and describes it as frost tender, so use the breeder’s cultivar range as a guide and protect plants from freezing conditions. ## Maintenance Keep the growing medium evenly but lightly moist while the plant is active, avoid water collecting at the crown, and reduce watering as foliage naturally declines for summer dormancy. Remove spent flowers by twisting the stalk from its base. In cold-winter climates, grow it in a container that can be moved to a bright, cool, frost-free place.
