About Sierra™ Synchro Purple Flame Cyclamen

Sierra™ Synchro Purple Flame is Syngenta’s purple-flowered Cyclamen persicum selection, code 70019016, listed separately from Sierra Synchro Purple; its Americas page gives 12–14 in. garden dimensions ([Syngenta](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70019016)). The breeder describes a mounding habit, and Kew accepts Cyclamen persicum in Primulaceae ([Kew](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:700765-1/general-information)). ## Flowering and Form Syngenta lists flowering in early and mid spring, fall, and winter. Purple Flame is a standard cyclamen with large flowers on a compact, rounded plant; its name distinguishes it from the separately coded Purple selection. It can bring seasonal color to a small pot or a sheltered, shaded display. ## Light and Soil Choose full shade to part shade, as listed by the breeder, with bright indirect light indoors. Use a rich, well-drained potting mix and protect the tuber from standing water. Florist cyclamen is frost tender; bring containers under cover before freezing conditions. ## Watering Water when the mix feels dry, aiming around the edge of the pot instead of over the crown. Reduce watering during the plant’s summer rest, then resume as leaves return. Cool conditions help the flowers last. ## Maintenance Remove faded flowers and yellowing foliage at the base. Let the plant rest naturally when it becomes dormant, and avoid keeping the tuber wet while it is leafless.
