‘Allgold’ is the fragrant, bright yellow-flowered broom recognized by the RHS as *Cytisus × praecox* ‘Allgold’. This deciduous, bushy shrub flowers in late spring and carries the named selection in its accepted botanical name. [The RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/19988/cytisus-%C3%97-praecox-allgold/details) describes the exact selection, garden conditions, and pruning guidance.
## Site and season
Plant in full sun in well-drained soil; the RHS lists loam and sand and a mature height and spread range of 1–1.5 m. It may become chlorotic on shallow chalk and resents transplanting, so choose its permanent position while young. Its dense, bushy form suits a sunny flower border or gravel garden, with late-spring blooms providing the strongest display.
## Maintenance
The RHS classifies ‘Allgold’ in pruning group 3 and cautions against cutting into old wood. Keep any pruning light and within the green growth, and avoid moving an established broom. The RHS also lists drought resistance; water new plants while they establish, then avoid excessive irrigation in the well-drained site.
