‘Zeelandia’ is a compact, deciduous broom with slender green stems, small leaves, and a bushy outline. Its pink-and-cream pea-shaped flowers open in late spring and early summer, with subtle salmon tones described in the cultivar’s botanical history.
## Garden placement
Use this shrub in a sunny border, gravel garden, or informal planting where its flowering branches can be seen at close range. The [RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/332080/cytisus-%C3%97-boskoopii-zeelandia/details) gives mature height and spread of 1–1.5 m and lists chalk, loam, or sand with good drainage. A [Royal Horticultural Society taxonomic paper](https://www.rhs.org.uk/about-us/pdfs/publications/hanburyana/vol-7-july-2013/hanburyana7web.pdf) records the pink and salmon pattern of ‘Zeelandia’ flowers.
## Planting and pruning
Choose its permanent site while the plant is young because broom resents transplanting. Full sun and free-draining soil suit it; avoid persistently wet ground. After flowering, trim lightly to keep the outline tidy. Do not cut into old woody stems, which will not reliably produce new growth.
## Maintenance
Check the shrub after bloom and remove only spent or wayward shoots. Leave the green stems intact through winter for structure.
