Create design onlineAbout Dahlietta® Anna Dahlia
Dahlietta® Anna is a compact, mounded bedding dahlia with orange-red double flowers and dark green foliage. The RHS describes this named selection as a dwarf plant with flowers from mid-summer until autumn frost, while Ball Seed lists the Dahlietta series at about 10–12 inches tall and wide for sunny pots and borders.
## Placement and color
Plant it in full sun near a path, patio, or the front of a border, where the warm flower color can be enjoyed at close range. Its rounded habit and small mature size also suit mixed containers. The breeder’s cultivar code is DAPADPOR, matching the RHS profile’s ‘Dapadpor’ name; see [Ball Seed’s Anna product information](https://www.ballseed.com/plantinfo/?phid=021701289000259) and the [RHS Anna profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/167348/dahlia-dahlietta-anna-dapadpor-dahlietta-select-series/details).
## Soil and watering
Give the plant fertile, moist but free-draining soil. Water during dry spells and check containers regularly, since potting mix dries faster than ground soil. Avoid prolonged waterlogging. The [RHS dahlia guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/dahlia/growing-guide/) recommends a sunny site, free-draining soil, and additional watering in hot or dry weather.
## Maintenance
Deadhead spent flowers to prolong the display. Dahlias are frost-tender, so protect the tubers from freezing; where winter temperatures fall below freezing, lift and store them in a frost-free place after frost damages the foliage, as described by the [RHS](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/dahlia/growing-guide/).
