Create design onlineAbout Dahlinova Hypnotica® Red Dahlia
Dahlinova Hypnotica® Red is a named red Dahlia selection. Dahlias are tuberous-rooted flowers valued for their color in beds and as cut stems.
Plant in full sun in organically rich, medium-moisture, well-drained soil. Keep moisture consistent during active growth; dry soil can reduce flower production. Remove spent blooms to encourage new buds. Dahlias vary in height and form, so use the plant's actual growth when setting spacing or choosing supports. In climates with freezing winters, dig tubers after frost, cure and store them cool over winter, then replant in spring. The [Illinois Extension Dahlia guide](https://extension.illinois.edu/blogs/hort-home-landscape/2015-09-03-plant-week-dahlias) provides general planting and storage advice.
## Maintenance
Deadhead faded flowers, stake only when needed for support, and lift tubers after frost where winter freezes occur.
