Create design onlineAbout Dahlegria® Sunrise Dahlia
Dahlegria® Sunrise Dahlia (70089160) is an upright Dahlia x hybrida selection in the Dahlegria® series, with bright single flowers and very dark foliage. Its 18–24-inch height and 10–16-inch spread give it presence in a patio pot or sunny border. Syngenta lists this exact selection and describes the series’ spring-to-summer bloom, light range, and mature dimensions ([Dahlegria series and code listing](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70089160)).
## Growing Conditions
Grow in part sun to full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. Keep the root zone evenly moist during active growth; water during dry spells and mulch through summer warmth. Dahlegria dahlias are upright and well suited to containers and sunny border plantings. NC State Extension recommends fertile, moist but well-drained soil and notes that dahlias may slow in summer heat ([Dahlia growing guidance](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/dahlia/common-name/bedding-dahlia/)).
## Maintenance
Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued bloom. Dahlias can be grown as warm-season annuals; where tubers are saved, lift and store them in cold-winter areas or mulch them in mild-winter zones. NC State Extension notes that tubers may be injured below 25°F and gives zone-based overwintering guidance.
