Decadence Deluxe Blue Bubbly is a tall Baptisia hybrid with upright stems of lavender-blue flowers above blue-green foliage. The breeder lists mature height at 4–4.5 feet and spread at 3 feet 4 inches to 4 feet; the flower spikes rise about 16 inches above the foliage. Its spring display is followed by dark seed pods that can provide interest later in the year.
## Garden Placement
Give this long-lived perennial full sun for best flowering; part sun is also tolerated. It performs in average to poor, well-drained soil and is suited to a large border, meadow edge, or specimen position where the wide clump has room. The stated hardiness range is USDA zones 4a–9b. Established plants tolerate dry periods, but young plants need regular water while their root systems develop.
## Establishment
Baptisia develops deep roots and resents being moved, so choose a permanent planting location. Iowa State notes that false indigos may take three to five years to mature and flower profusely. Stems and foliage die back in winter; the dormant root crown produces new growth the following spring. The [Proven Winners profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/baptisia/decadence-deluxe-blue-bubbly-false-indigo-baptisia-hybrid) gives cultivar-specific color, size, and site guidance, while [Iowa State Extension](https://yardandgarden.extension.iastate.edu/how-to/growing-baptisia-false-indigo-iowa) describes general Baptisia establishment and care.
## Maintenance
Water during the first growing season and during prolonged drought once established. Remove dead stems in late fall or early spring. Avoid digging or dividing a mature plant unless necessary.
