Sandgem™ Dark Orange Delosperma cooperi

SANDGEM™ Dark Orange is one of the named Delosperma cooperi selections listed in the 2024–25 ThinkPlants catalog. The catalog describes the SANDGEM™ series as semi-trailing, with large bright flowers, suited to landscape plantings and mixed containers; it gives a typical series size of 4–6 inches tall by 12–16 inches wide, part sun to full sun, late-spring-to-fall flowering, and zones 5–9 ([ThinkPlants catalog, page 29](https://online.flippingbook.com/view/530070179/29/)). Danziger’s current series overview also describes a semi-trailing, mounded form for ground cover, hanging baskets, or pots ([Danziger SANDGEM™ series](https://www.danzigeronline.com/series_perennials/sandgem/)). The original Dark Orange product name identifies the selected form and is retained. Its low, spreading scale suits a sunny edge, a rock garden, or a container where the trailing growth can be seen. The breeder groups SANDGEM™ among its large-flowered Delosperma offerings; flower size and color intensity may vary with light and growing conditions. ## Maintenance Give it sun and freely draining soil, and avoid standing water around the roots. The series is presented for heat- and drought-tolerant planting programs. Water during establishment, then reduce supplemental watering when the planting is established and weather is dry.
