Wheels of Wonder® Violet Wonder Ice Plant

Wheels of Wonder® Violet Wonder (Delosperma 'WOWDRW5', PP25572) forms a low mat of succulent evergreen leaves and bright violet flowers with white centers. The exact-code profile describes a 6–8 inch height and 10–12 inch spread, with flowers in late spring and early summer. ## Garden use Use this compact selection along a sunny path, in a rock garden, on a dry wall, or at the front of a border. Its evergreen foliage turns bronze in winter, adding texture outside the flowering period. Perennials.com associates the code WOWDRW5 with Violet Wonder and reports USDA zones 5–9; it uses the botanical label Delosperma nubigenum, while this record retains its code-based named identity without asserting disputed species placement. The profile notes that hardy ice plants need excellent drainage, especially through cold, wet periods. This cultivar attracts butterflies and is listed as deer resistant. ## Maintenance Water to establish, then keep the soil on the dry side. Avoid winter-wet locations and dense mulch over the crown. Short stem pieces can root readily in suitable conditions, so remove unwanted pieces if the mat spreads beyond its space.
