New Millennium ‘Sweetheart’ is a Delphinium elatum selection with upright spikes of rose-to-soft-pink flowers marked by a contrasting white bee. The exact New Millennium profile lists 120–180 centimetres tall and 45–60 centimetres wide, while RHS lists a range of 1.5–2.5 metres tall and 0.5–1 metre wide for its New Millennium ‘Sweethearts’ profile.
## Garden Placement
Grow this clump-forming perennial in a sunny border or cutting garden, where the tall flower spikes can rise behind lower plants. The flowers bloom in early to midsummer, and removing spent spikes may encourage another flush in fall. Its rose, pink, and white coloring pairs well with blue or purple flowering perennials.
## Growing Conditions
Plant in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil that remains average to moist. It is listed for USDA zones 3–9. Shelter the stems from wind, and provide support before they reach three feet. Delphiniums can be harmful if eaten.
## Maintenance
Deadhead spent spikes to encourage repeat flowering. In hot, humid summers, foliage may develop powdery mildew; cut back affected growth to encourage fresh leaves.
