Magic Fountain Larkspur

Magic Fountains Mix is a multicolor assortment in the Magic Fountains Series, rather than a single flower-color cultivar. The compact, upright plants produce dense spikes in white and shades of blue and purple, so individual plants may show different colors. ## Garden use Use the mix where a changing blend of cool-colored flowers will enliven a sunny border. The stems also suit cutting gardens, and the dense flower spikes provide vertical color without relying on one uniform hue. Ball Seed notes that its mix may contain most or all of the colors in the series. ## Growing conditions Grow in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. The RHS describes the series as compact and lists chalk, loam, and sandy soils; Ball Seed gives the mix moderate water requirements and USDA hardiness from 3a to 8b. Allow room for the flower spikes and keep the planting from standing in wet soil. ## Maintenance Apply a balanced liquid feed during active growth if you want strong flower spikes. Deadhead spent blooms back to side shoots and cut the stems to ground level after the foliage has withered in autumn.
