About Barbarini® White Dianthus

Barbarini® White is a named white-flowered selection of Dianthus barbatus in Syngenta’s F1 Barbarini® series, identified by code 70001026. The breeder describes the series as upright and compact-branching and suitable for annual or perennial applications. ## Flowering and form Syngenta lists mid-spring and fall flowering, and says the series can be programmed for flowering from April through September. The product page gives a compact garden size of about 4–8 inches high and wide. The actual display and size depend on local conditions and planting schedule. ## Planting The Barbarini® page lists full sun, part sun, and part shade. For the species, the Royal Horticultural Society recommends full sun and a well-drained neutral to slightly acidic soil. Sweet William works in containers, bedding, flower borders, and cut-flower plantings. The RHS describes Dianthus barbatus as a biennial or short-lived perennial, while Syngenta notes annual and perennial uses for the series. ## Maintenance Sow seed in late spring and plant out in autumn for flowering positions. Deadhead as needed to tidy the planting.
