Create design onlineAbout Dart™ White Dianthus
Dart™ White is an upright, compact Sweet William with white flower clusters. PanAmerican Seed identifies this Dianthus barbatus selection as PAS1514687 and lists a mature size of 6–12 inches high by 6–8 inches wide.
## Garden use
White flowers bring a clear accent to a small border, patio container or cut-flower bed. Ball describes Dart as compact, suited to different pot sizes and able to perform in cooler garden conditions without staking in beds. Like other Sweet Williams, it is a biennial or short-lived perennial often grown as an annual for seasonal color. ## Growing conditions
Give the plant sun and a well-drained site with loamy or sandy soil. In hot-summer areas, partial shade can suit the species; avoid wet soil around the crown. The supplier lists flowering periods from early spring through summer and autumn, but the actual outdoor display follows local climate and planting time. ## Maintenance
Use moderate watering and allow the soil to drain between watering. Deadhead spent flower heads when needed to keep the plant tidy or reduce self-sowing. Dart's compact habit generally does not need staking in a garden bed.
