It combines the series’ upright, fragrant, well-branched growth with a compact size that suits premium containers and sunny planting beds. ## Form and use The Dash series is listed at 15–20 inches tall and 12–14 inches wide. The breeder describes masses of fragrant flowers and a production program that does not require vernalization for flowering. Dianthus barbatus generally grows well in loam and tolerates slightly alkaline conditions. Partial shade can help in hot summer climates, while good drainage reduces the risk of crown rot. ## Maintenance Deadhead faded flower stems to keep the display tidy and encourage further bloom.
