Dash™ White Dianthus

Dash™ White is PanAmerican Seed’s white-flowered selection of Dianthus barbatus, identified by selection code PAS951119. Its upright, fragrant flower clusters and well-branched form are sized for containers and sunny garden beds. ## Form and flowering The Dash series is listed at 15–20 inches tall and 12–14 inches wide. PanAmerican Seed describes it as a Sweet William type that flowers without vernalization; its White selection remains distinct from the Pink, Violet, Magician, and mixed offerings. Dianthus barbatus does well in loam and tolerates slightly alkaline conditions; partial shade can help in hot summer climates. Do not let the crown remain waterlogged, as poor drainage can encourage rot. ## Maintenance Remove faded flower stems to prolong the display and maintain a tidy mound. Sweet William may be a biennial or short-lived perennial, and seed from a named cultivar may not come true. Use vegetative propagation if you want to preserve the exact White selection.
