About Dynasty Rose Lace Dianthus

‘Dynasty Rose Lace’ is a double-flowered, upright interspecific Dianthus in PanAmerican Seed’s Dynasty series. Its rose-pink flowers have contrasting white edges and darker centers, while the breeder lists early-spring, spring, and autumn flowering, first-year bloom, a 16–20-inch height, a 10-inch spread, and perennial performance in USDA zones 6a–9b ([PanAmerican Seed](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/022500476013912/dianthus-dynasty-rose-lace/), [Ball Seed](https://info.ballseed.com/PlantInfo/?phid=022500476013912)); a University of Alaska evaluation records the selection’s rose-pink and white-edged pattern ([UAF evaluation](https://www.uaf.edu/afes/publications/database/circulars/files/pdfs/C131.pdf)). ## Garden use Plant this compact cultivar in a sunny border or cutting garden where its double blooms can be seen at close range. PanAmerican describes the Dynasty series as well-branched and strong-stemmed, with garden and cut-flower use. Its 10-inch spread makes it suitable for small groups or the middle of a mixed bed without crowding neighboring plants. ## Growing conditions Give it full sun and freely draining soil. The [RHS profile for Dianthus barbatus](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/105495/dianthus-barbatus/details) lists loam and sand and recommends a well-drained, neutral to slightly acidic position. The breeder reports perennial performance in USDA zones 6a–9b and flowering from early spring through spring and autumn. ## Maintenance Deadhead spent stems as needed to keep the planting neat. The RHS also notes that Dianthus barbatus can be susceptible to slugs, aphids, rust, powdery mildew, and Fusarium wilt; good drainage and regular inspection help catch problems early. Ball Seed rates Dynasty Rose Lace as low maintenance and slightly fragrant, so extensive pruning is unnecessary.
