Jolt™ Cherry is PanAmerican Seed’s interspecific Dianthus selection PAS970054, with upright growth and cherry-colored flowers. PanAmerican lists spring, summer, and autumn bloom, full sun, a 16–20-inch height, a 12–14-inch spread, and semi-hardy annual performance in USDA zones 7a–11; Greenleaf confirms cherry flowers and the spring-to-fall season ([PanAmerican Seed](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/022507262001110/interspecific-dianthus-jolt-cherry/), [Greenleaf Nursery](https://www.greenleafnursery.com/plant/Dianthus-Dianthus-barbatus-interspecific-PAS970054)).
## Garden use
Use Jolt Cherry in sunny mixed borders, beds, and containers for an extended display of red-toned flowers. PanAmerican describes the Jolt series as heat tolerant, durable in hot conditions, and able to keep flowering without setting seed. The upright habit and 12–14-inch spread suit grouped plantings, while the bright flower color gives a clear accent through warm-season displays.
## Growing conditions
Provide full sun and soil that drains well. The [RHS Dianthus barbatus profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/105495/dianthus-barbatus/details) recommends well-drained soil and lists loam and sand; this is useful general guidance for the related interspecific selection. PanAmerican lists spring through autumn flowering and zones 7a–11, where it is described as a semi-hardy annual.
## Maintenance
Remove faded flower heads when desired for a tidy appearance, and avoid sites that remain waterlogged. PanAmerican reports good performance in hot conditions with few disease issues, but inspect foliage and stems if growth weakens. In climates outside the listed hardiness range, treat the selection as a seasonal planting rather than assuming it will overwinter.
