Create design onlineAbout Jolt™ Pink Interspecific Dianthus
Jolt™ Pink is PanAmerican Seed’s interspecific Dianthus selection PAS970056, producing bright pink flowers on upright plants. PanAmerican lists spring, late spring, summer, and autumn bloom, full sun, a 16–20-inch height, a 12–14-inch spread, and semi-hardy annual performance in USDA zones 7a–11; Greenleaf confirms the pink flowers and spring-to-fall season ([PanAmerican Seed](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/022507262004054/interspecific-dianthus-jolt-pink/), [Greenleaf Nursery](https://www.greenleafnursery.com/plant/Dianthus-Dianthus-barbatus-interspecific-PAS970056)).
## Garden use
Use this cultivar in sunny borders, mixed beds, and containers when a strong pink accent is wanted across spring and summer, with flowering continuing into autumn. The Jolt series is described by PanAmerican as heat tolerant, durable in hot conditions, and able to continue flowering without setting seed. Its upright growth and 12–14-inch spread make it easy to group with other warm-season flowers.
## Growing conditions
Choose full sun and soil that drains freely. The [RHS Dianthus barbatus profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/105495/dianthus-barbatus/details) recommends well-drained soil and lists loam and sand; this provides general guidance for the interspecific selection. PanAmerican lists USDA zones 7a–11 and describes it as a semi-hardy annual.
## Maintenance
Remove faded flower heads when a tidier display is preferred, and avoid persistently wet soil. PanAmerican reports that Jolt performs through hot conditions with few disease issues; check plants after periods of stress and remove damaged growth. In colder zones, grow it as a seasonal color plant rather than relying on winter survival.
