Create design onlineAbout Sunflor® Luigi Pinks
Sunflor® Luigi is a fragrant, double-flowered carnation with peachy-apricot to salmon blooms above icy blue-green foliage. It forms a compact, spreading mound about 6–8 inches tall and wide, with flowers from late spring into autumn.
## Flowers and garden use
The large, frilled blooms are suited to containers, dwarf edging, and the foreground of mixed plantings. Short stems also work well in miniature bouquets. [Hortech’s Luigi profile](https://hortech.com/plant/dianthus-sunflor-luigi/) describes the peachy-apricot color and late-spring-to-autumn flowering, while [Perennials.com](https://www.perennials.com/plants/dianthus-caryophyllus-sunflor-luigi.html) describes salmon-toned flowers and a 6–8-inch spread.
## Growing conditions
Plant in full sun or partial shade in well-drained soil. The [RHS carnation profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/5707/dianthus-caryophyllus/details) gives full sun and well-drained soil as suitable conditions for Dianthus caryophyllus. During summer, occasional watering keeps the soil moist but not wet.
## Maintenance
Remove faded stalks after flowering and avoid overwatering. Luigi’s compact size suits a patio pot or the front edge of a border, where its fragrant flowers can be enjoyed close by.
