About Coronet™ Cherry Red Dianthus

Coronet™ Cherry Red is a Dianthus chinensis selection with solid cherry-red blooms, some showing a darker red center. [PanAmerican Seed](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/022509158001126/coronet-cherry-red-dianthus/) lists the selection as PAS970058, with a compact mounded habit, 8–10-inch height and width, and flowering from early spring through autumn. ## Flowers and garden use Flowers measure about 2–3 inches across and appear repeatedly on the compact plant. PanAmerican Seed reports the best display in cool weather and recommends 8–10 inches of spacing. Use it in sunny seasonal borders or with other cool-season annuals. ## Growing conditions The [RHS Chinese pink profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/74267/dianthus-chinensis-p-a/details) recommends a sunny position and well-drained soil. The species is variable, while Coronet™ is described specifically as cherry red with occasional darker centers. Provide room for airflow and avoid waterlogged soil. ## Maintenance Deadhead faded flowers regularly to prolong flowering, following RHS guidance for Dianthus chinensis. Keep the root zone well drained and remove spent stems when the flowering display finishes.
