Coronet™ Purple Dianthus

Coronet™ Purple is the purple-flowered selection of Dianthus chinensis in PanAmerican’s Coronet series. The breeder describes multiple 2–3 inch blooms on a compact, mounded plant and notes that it performs best in cool weather ([selection profile](https://www.panamseed.com/products/022509158004341/dianthus-coronet-purple/)). The product listing gives sunny exposure, an 8–10 inch height and spread, and flowering from early spring through autumn ([2026–2027 series catalog](https://catalog.panamseed.com/view/445948364/48/)). ## Garden Use Plant it in a sunny bed or patio container for a low, vivid seasonal display. The compact size works along the front of a planting or in repeated groups, while the purple flowers provide a clear color accent among cool-season annuals. ## Growing Conditions PanAmerican lists this selection as Dianthus chinensis and identifies a mounded, upright habit. It performs best in cool weather, although the product listing spans several bloom periods; local climate influences when flowering begins and how long it continues. ## Maintenance Remove faded blooms as desired to keep the plant tidy. Check container soil regularly, particularly during dry or windy weather, and water in response to local conditions and drainage.
