Constant Beauty® Red is a compact dianthus with semi-double dark red flowers, blue-green foliage, and continued flowering through summer heat. McKay Nursery lists this exact selection at 4–8 inches tall and 10–12 inches wide in USDA zones 4–9, while Gertens reports a somewhat smaller range and zones 4–8. ## Garden use
The low habit works along a sunny border edge, in a rock garden, or in a small floral arrangement. Red flowers and fragrance make it useful where a compact accent and sensory interest are wanted.
## Growing conditions
McKay lists sun exposure and normal, sandy, or dry soil, and notes good flowering through summer heat. Choose a free-draining site and avoid standing winter moisture around the crown.
## Maintenance
Shear lightly after flowering to tidy the mound, following McKay Nursery’s plant guidance. Remove faded flower stems during the season when continued flowering is desired; [UNH Extension](https://extension.unh.edu/blog/2019/07/what-best-way-deadhead-perennials) notes that Dianthus often responds with additional flowers.
