About Constant Cadence® Red - Dianthus

Constant Cadence® Red is a compact dianthus with vivid scarlet, carnation-like flowers and a mounding habit. The Constant Cadence® series is bred for landscape vigor and performs well in sunny garden settings. [Green Fuse Botanicals](https://green-fuse.com/new/dianthus-constant-cadence/) lists Red in the series, and [Vandermeer Nursery](https://www.vandermeernursery.com/products/pinks-constant-cadence%C2%AE-red) reports a mature size of 4–6 inches tall by 8–10 inches wide. ## Garden Use Place this low-growing perennial along a sunny border, as edging, or in a container where the red blooms can be seen up close. Flowers begin in late spring and continue through summer when faded blooms are removed. ## Growing Conditions Give the plant full sun and well-drained soil. Afternoon shade is tolerated in hot-summer areas. Water regularly while new roots establish, then during prolonged dry periods; avoid soil that stays wet around the crown. ## Maintenance Promptly remove spent flowers to encourage continued bloom and keep the mound neat. Use a well-drained potting mix for containers and check moisture more often during hot weather. [Vandermeer Nursery](https://www.vandermeernursery.com/products/pinks-constant-cadence%C2%AE-red) describes the red trade selection, size, habit, bloom period, and care; [Green Fuse Botanicals](https://green-fuse.com/new/dianthus-constant-cadence/) lists Red among the Constant Cadence® selections; [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/dianthus/common-name/eastern-star/) provides general dianthus soil and light guidance.
