About Dart Pink Magician dianthus

Dart Pink Magician is an upright, compact Sweet William with rounded foliage domes and dense clusters of multicolored flowers. The blooms move through white, pale pink, and deeper pink, giving the plant a changing display rather than one flat color. ## Flowers and size [PanAmerican Seed](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/022509905035289/dianthus-dart-pink-magician/) identifies this Dart selection as Dianthus barbatus ‘PAS1514679’, with a height of 6–12 inches and spread of 6–8 inches. [Thompson & Morgan](https://www.thompson-morgan.com/p/dianthus-dart-pink-magician/WKH2042TM) gives a smaller retail-grown height of up to 8 inches and spread up to 10 inches; these reports together support a garden range of about 6–12 inches tall and 6–10 inches wide. Both sources describe the pink-and-white flower effect, and the breeder lists flowering across early spring through autumn. ## Siting Grow in full sun in a fertile, well-drained bed or a container, following the [RHS Dianthus growing guidance](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/5729/dianthus-monspessulanus/details). Its compact mound works along a border edge or in a patio pot, where the fragrant flowers are close at hand. Dianthus dislikes persistently wet soil. ## Maintenance Water regularly until established, then water during extended dry periods. Deadhead faded clusters to keep the plant neat and encourage more flowers. Cut stems for small bouquets while the buds are opening.
