Dart White is an upright, compact Sweet William selected for early flowering and a cleaner white retail display. Its clustered white flowers rise above a neat mound, making it a simple bright accent for a border edge or seasonal container.
## Flowers and size
[PanAmerican Seed](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/022509905005863/dianthus-dart-white/) lists this selection as Dianthus barbatus ‘PAS1514687’, with a height of 6–12 inches and spread of 6–8 inches. The breeder lists the Dart series for flowering from early spring through autumn and describes White as earlier to flower with improved plant habit and stronger color at retail than the competing white form. The cultivar is suitable for several pot sizes. The series is suitable for multiple pot sizes.
## Siting
Grow in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil, following the [RHS Dianthus growing guidance](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/5729/dianthus-monspessulanus/details). The compact scale suits a container, a sunny border front, or a small mass planting. Avoid heavy, persistently wet ground.
## Maintenance
Water regularly until plants are established, then during extended dry spells. Remove faded flower clusters to keep the mound tidy and encourage additional flowers. If plants become ragged after flowering, trim them lightly to refresh the outline.
