About Delilah™ Purple Dianthus - Pinks

Delilah™ Purple is a compact Dianthus plumarius with semi-double purple flowers above a low mound of narrow, blue-green foliage. The named Delilah selection blooms from spring into early fall and carries the spicy clove fragrance associated with pinks. [Danziger](https://www.danzigeronline.com/catalog/perennials_catalog/delilah-purple/) identifies the Delilah™ series and its flower form; [Monrovia](https://www.monrovia.com/delilah-purple-dianthus.html) describes this selection’s bloom, fragrance, color, and garden uses. ## Landscape Use At about 10 inches tall and 14 inches wide, it fits the front of a sunny border, an edging, a rock garden, or a container where the flowers can be enjoyed up close. The breeder lists 25 cm by 35 cm and USDA zones 4–9; allow for local growing conditions and soil drainage. ## Growing Conditions Give it full sun or partial sun and loose, well-drained soil. Monrovia recommends a neutral to slightly alkaline soil and regular, deep watering during the first growing season. Once established, water less often; the plant tolerates mild drought. ## Maintenance Remove spent flowers to encourage a heavier flush. Keep the crown in free-draining soil, especially through wet winter weather.
