SCENT FIRST™ 'WP Passion' Passion™ Pinks

Scent First® Passion is a compact garden pink selected for double, velvety red flowers and a strong spicy fragrance. Its narrow gray-green leaves form a cushion, while sturdy stems lift the blooms above the foliage from late spring through summer. ## Form and flowering The cultivar is sold as Dianthus ‘WP Passion’ and is protected by US plant patent PP20440. Mature-size reports vary: the Royal Horticultural Society lists about 0.4 m in height and spread, while a Texas nursery lists roughly 7–11 inches in each direction. The displayed 7–16-inch range reflects those different reports; site and growing conditions affect the final size. The flowers work well at the front of a sunny border, in a patio container, or where their scent can be enjoyed nearby. ## Site and soil Give it full sun and well-drained soil. The Royal Horticultural Society recommends good air circulation and moderately fertile, moist but free-draining soil; avoid keeping the crown wet. A U.S. nursery lists USDA zones 5–9. ## Maintenance Deadhead regularly to extend flowering, then trim lightly after the main display to encourage fresh growth and maintain a tidy cushion.
