SCENT FIRST™ Coconut Surprise Pinks

Dianthus 'WP05 Yves', sold as Scent First® Coconut Surprise, is a compact garden pink with fully double white flowers marked by burgundy-red eyes. Its blue-gray, grasslike leaves form a tidy mound, and the spicy-scented flowers bring color close to paths, seating, and the front of a sunny border. ## Form and flowering The selection flowers from late spring into early fall, with bloom timing shifting by climate. Its low evergreen foliage and bicolored flowers suit edging, rock gardens, containers, and small ground-cover groupings. Published mature size ranges from about 7–10 inches to 15–25 cm tall and 20–30 cm wide, so allow roughly a foot of space rather than treating one nursery measurement as exact. ## Site and soil Choose full sun for the most flowers and a well-drained bed; some shade is tolerated, though growth can become loose and flowering may lessen. Average moisture suits it, and newly planted clumps benefit from regular watering while roots establish. The Scent First series is valued for fragrance and a long flowering season. ## Maintenance Remove faded flower stems to encourage continued bloom and keep the mound neat. Avoid waterlogged soil around the crown. Leave the evergreen foliage in place through winter and tidy damaged leaves as growth resumes in spring.
