About Spooky Pinks

‘Spooky’ is a fragrant, fringed pink in the Dianthus superbus group, with glaucous gray-green foliage and finely cut petals in a mix of pale and rich colors. Chiltern Seeds describes it as a complex hybrid that flowers through summer and gives an approximate height of 1 foot ([plant and growing profile](https://new.chilternseeds.co.uk/item_453T_dianthus_superbus_hybrid_spooky)). ## Landscape Use Use it in a sunny cottage border or cutting garden, where the airy flower stems can be seen close up. Its mixed flowers suit informal combinations better than a single-color scheme. ## Growing Conditions Choose full sun and light, well-drained soil. Sandy or loamy ground is suitable; avoid wet soil in winter. ## Size and Siting Allow around 12 inches of height and allow 3–8 inches of spread. Give the clump enough air circulation and keep its crown out of standing water. ## Maintenance Deadhead to prolong flowering and maintain vigor. After a killing frost, cut stems back near the soil line; divide in spring if the clump needs renewal.
