About Diabunda® Pearl Dianthus

Diabunda® Pearl is the pink-to-rose color selection in Syngenta’s compact F1 Diabunda® Sweet William series. It forms a mounding, upright plant about 8–10 inches tall and wide, with flowering listed from mid-spring into fall. ## Garden Use Use this compact annual for the front of a flower bed, grouped bedding displays, or patio containers. Syngenta describes the series as uniform in habit and timing and quicker to flower than traditional Dianthus barbatus, which helps create a coordinated seasonal display. The Pearl selection is identified as pink/rose in the [breeder’s product listing](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70019221). ## Growing Conditions Plant in full sun and well-drained soil. For D. barbatus, the [Royal Horticultural Society recommends](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/105495/dianthus-barbatus/details) a neutral to slightly acidic soil; allow extra afternoon shade in hot summer climates. The [Syngenta Dianthus culture guide](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/sites/g/files/kgtney2381/files/file_field/import/field_media_link/sites/g/files/zhg721/f/dianthus_1.pdf) gives production guidance for moisture and container culture. ## Maintenance Remove spent flower heads as needed to tidy the plant and support continued display. Water container plants when the growing mix begins to dry, and avoid leaving roots in standing water.
