About Odessa® 'Joelle' Pinks

Odessa® ‘Joelle’ is the trade name for ‘Hilodejoe’, a pot carnation bred by HilverdaKooij. The named selection has double magenta flowers and a compact clumping habit, making it a useful close-view accent in a small border or container. ## Placement and seasonal display The Royal Horticultural Society’s Dianthus register identifies the exact cultivar and its trade designation, and describes the flowers as double and magenta. In Colorado State University’s 2018 garden trial, the plant measured 6 inches tall by 8 inches wide and produced a pink flower display observed from May into October. Trial results show how it performed at that site rather than a universal mature-size promise, so leave modest room around the clump. Remove spent blooms to keep the small clump tidy. In fall, clear away declining debris and keep any protective mulch loose around the crown so moisture does not collect against the foliage.
