About Odessa® 'Nicky' Pinks

Odessa® ‘Nicky’ is an upright, compact dianthus with double flowers above green foliage. Its modest stature and long flower display in garden trials make it suitable for the front of a sunny border or a container where its fine, fringed blooms can be appreciated. ## Placement and seasonal display Dümmen Orange lists ‘Nicky’ at 8–12 inches tall, with upright growth, spring flowering, and hardiness in USDA Zones 5–9. Trial measurements vary: Penn State recorded a 7-by-9-inch plant in 2018, while the JC Raulston Arboretum recorded 9 inches tall by 14 inches wide and double pink blooms from May through September in a later trial. These observations support allowing room for a wider clump without treating one garden’s measurement as a fixed limit. Water during establishment and prolonged dry weather, then avoid keeping the crown soggy. Remove faded flowers to tidy the plant, and clear dead foliage in fall while keeping winter mulch away from direct contact with the crown.
