Dicentra 'White Gold'

'White Gold' is a white-flowered bleeding heart with golden foliage, a mounding habit, and spring flowers. Terra Nova Nurseries identifies the cultivar as Dicentra spectabilis 'White Gold' and lists a mature size of about 24 inches tall by 36 inches wide. ## Flowers and foliage The [Terra Nova product profile](https://www.terranovanurseries.com/product/dicentra-white-gold/) gives April through June bloom, white flowers, green and lime foliage, and summer and winter dormancy. It lists USDA zones 4–8 and part shade to full shade. The pale flowers and bright leaves bring contrast to woodland borders and shaded mixed beds. ## Siting Plant in moist, loamy soil that drains well. Terra Nova advises keeping young plants evenly moist and allowing only slight drying between waterings; excessive drying can trigger early summer dormancy. Allow room for a clump about three feet across. ## Maintenance Water during dry periods while the plant is in active growth. After flowering, let foliage die back naturally as the plant enters summer dormancy. Remove only declining or damaged stems, and mark the planting site so it is not disturbed while dormant.
