Dalmatian White is a named white-flowered selection of Digitalis purpurea with upright stems of tubular bells above a low rosette of green leaves. It can flower in its first year and adds a bright vertical accent to borders and grouped plantings.
## Size and flowering
The [PanAmerican Seed Dalmatian White profile](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/023105668005863/digitalis-dalmatian-white/) lists plants around 16–20 inches tall and 12–14 inches wide, flowering from late spring into summer, with hardiness in USDA Zones 5a–9b. The flowering spikes add height above lower perennials.
## Garden conditions
Grow in full sun or partial shade in moist, well-drained, organic-rich soil. Afternoon shade is useful where summers are hot. The flowering spikes fit cottage gardens, flower borders, and mass plantings, and they add height above low perennials. [NC State Extension’s foxglove profile](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/digitalis-purpurea/common-name/foxglove/) describes species-level cultivation and pollinator value. Foxgloves are toxic if eaten by people or pets.
## Maintenance
Remove spent spikes if you want to limit self-sowing or maintain a tidy appearance. Handle plants carefully and choose a location where children and pets will not eat the foliage or flowers.
