Create design onlineAbout Dalmatian Rose Digitalis
Dalmatian Rose is a named pink-flowered selection of Digitalis purpurea, producing upright stems of tubular bells above a low foliage rosette. Its first-year flowering habit and compact proportions suit a sunny or lightly shaded border.
## Size and flowering
The [PanAmerican Seed Dalmatian Rose profile](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/023105668004669/digitalis-dalmatian-rose/) lists an approximate height of 16–20 inches and width of 12–14 inches, flowering from late spring into summer, and USDA Zones 5a–9b. The upright flower stems rise above a low rosette of foliage.
## Garden conditions
Plant in full sun or partial shade in moist, well-drained soil with organic matter. In warm regions, afternoon shade helps protect the foliage. Use it in cottage gardens, flower borders, or repeated groups for a vertical flowering accent. [NC State Extension’s foxglove profile](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/digitalis-purpurea/common-name/foxglove/) gives species-level growing guidance and identifies foxgloves as useful to pollinators. Digitalis is toxic if eaten by people or pets.
## Maintenance
Cut off fading flower spikes when you want to reduce seed production and keep the planting neat. Take care when handling the plant, and site it away from curious children and pets.
