Dolce® 'Spearmint' coral bells is a low, mounding perennial valued for silvery green leaves marked by darker green veins. Pink flowers rise above the foliage in midsummer, while the compact mound keeps the leaf color visible along a path or at the front of a bed. Its combination of foliage and bloom makes it useful in shade gardens as well as mixed perennial plantings.
## Foliage and flowers
Plants reach about 8–10 inches tall and 26–30 inches wide; flower scapes rise roughly 18–22 inches. The flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, and the foliage remains a useful feature into winter. [Proven Winners’ profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/p/10984) lists average water needs, well-drained soil, hardiness in USDA zones 4–9, and uses including borders, containers, edging, and mass planting.
## Garden placement
Give each mound room to spread along a border or pathway. The silver-green leaves contrast well with darker foliage, and the flowering stems add a loose vertical accent in early to midsummer.
## Growing conditions
The plant grows in sun or shade, with part shade and filtered light providing a practical setting where soil moisture is easier to maintain. Use humus-rich soil with good drainage and water during extended dry spells.
## Maintenance
In early spring, remove foliage that is damaged or tattered. Avoid planting in a spot that stays waterlogged through winter.
