Double Take Eternal White Quince

Double Take Eternal White® is a compact flowering quince with large double blooms that open pale lime and mature to white. Its registered cultivar denomination is ‘SMNCSDW’, and the exact selection is protected by U.S. Plant Patent PP35,018. This wider-than-tall shrub flowers over an unusually long period for flowering quince. ## Flowers and placement The [Proven Winners profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/chaenomeles/double-take-eternal-white-quince-chaenomeles-speciosa) lists a mature height of 2–4 feet and spread of 4–5 feet, zones 5–9, and bloom from mid-spring through early summer. It suits a sunny or partly sunny border, a grouped planting, or a cut-flower garden. The [plant patent](https://patents.justia.com/patent/PP35018) confirms the species, cultivar denomination, changing flower color, and March 7, 2023 grant date. ## Maintenance Flowers form on old wood, so prune to shape after flowering. Proven Winners recommends spring fertilizer and describes the plant as easy to maintain. Leave enough room for its wider spread when placing it near paths or neighboring shrubs.
