Dracaena fragrans ‘Warneckii’ is an evergreen cane-form dracaena with gray-green leaves striped in white and green. It is grown as a foliage houseplant and can serve as a tropical screen in warm climates. [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/dracaena-fragrans/common-name/warneckei-dracaena/) identifies the cultivar and describes its foliage, culture, and species dimensions.
## Landscape Use
Place Warneckii where its striped leaves can be seen against a simple background. It works in a container indoors or a sheltered tropical planting. NC State Extension gives D. fragrans a broad mature height of 3–14.5 ft and width of 1–3 ft; final size varies with growing conditions and cane age.
## Growing Conditions
Provide moderate or filtered light and protect leaves from harsh direct sun. Use a well-drained potting mix in a container with drainage. Keep soil moist during active growth and reduce watering in winter. Warm indoor temperatures and reasonable humidity help maintain leaf quality.
## Maintenance
Wipe leaves and inspect for mealybugs or thrips. Brown tips can result from dry air or accumulated fluoride and salts, so try lower-mineral water if tip browning persists. Remove damaged leaves at their base and repot when roots crowd the container. Dracaena deremensis is an older synonym used for this selection.
