Create design onlineAbout Song of India
Song of India is an evergreen Dracaena grown for whorls of deep green leaves edged in yellow-green. Its upright, branching form works as a foliage specimen indoors or in a warm subtropical garden. [The RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/256029/dracaena-reflexa-song-of-india-v/details) records the yellow-green leaf margins and identifies the selection as *Dracaena reflexa* ‘Song of India’; Singapore’s [NParks Flora & Fauna Web](https://www.nparks.gov.sg/FloraFaunaWeb/Flora/1/9/1964) lists the same name and family.
## Foliage and setting
Use it where the evergreen foliage can be seen up close, such as a bright indoor room, conservatory, patio container, or sheltered tropical border. The RHS lists full sun to partial shade, while NParks lists full sun or semishade. The profile is an evergreen shrub with a branching, upright habit; mature size varies by growing conditions and container culture.
## Water and soil
Provide a freely draining loam-based potting mix. Water moderately while it is actively growing and reduce watering in winter; the RHS advises rainwater where practical because dracaenas can dislike tapwater. Avoid leaving the potting mix saturated, and allow excess water to drain away.
## Maintenance
Wipe dust from the leaves and rotate an indoor pot periodically for even growth. Repot in spring when roots fill the container. Prune only if a stem becomes weak or the plant needs to be kept within its space; healthy stems can be propagated from cuttings.
