About Variegated Dracena

Madagascar dragon tree ‘Bicolor’ is a palm-like Dracaena grown for dense clusters of long, narrow leaves. The Royal Horticultural Society’s [profile for ‘Bicolor’](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/304077/dracaena-marginata-bicolor-v/details) describes dark green foliage edged in cream with a fine red margin and an upright, branching stem. ## Foliage and form This evergreen selection makes a strong vertical foliage accent in a bright room or sheltered container. The RHS lists ‘Bicolor’ among houseplants and describes a columnar, upright habit. Its profile gives mature height and spread ranges far above the current 15-inch catalog dimensions, so those point measurements are left unresolved rather than replaced with a guessed point inside a range. ## Siting and soil Give it good light with protection from hot direct sun. Full sun or partial shade is suitable, and the RHS recommends a loam-based, moist but well-drained growing medium. In a container, use a pot with drainage and keep the plant sheltered from cold conditions. ## Maintenance Water when the upper mix begins to dry, then let excess drain fully. Reduce watering during darker winter months. Remove only damaged leaves, and prune a stem if you need to control its height or encourage branching; the cut tops can be rooted.
