About Magenta Dracena

Madagascar dragon tree ‘Magenta’ is an evergreen, slow-growing Dracaena with cane-like stems and tufts of narrow, strap-shaped leaves. The [Royal Horticultural Society profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/383654/dracaena-marginata-magenta-v/details) describes the leaves as red-flushed and lists the plant for houseplant and conservatory growing. ## Foliage and form The narrow leaves gather at the tops of the stems, giving the plant a tufted, upright silhouette. Use it as a foliage accent in a bright room, conservatory, or sheltered container. The RHS lists full sun or partial shade and gives a mature height and spread range substantially larger than the current 15-inch and 12-inch catalog measurements. Those point dimensions are therefore left unresolved rather than replaced by guessed values. ## Siting and soil Grow in a loam-based mix with good drainage. Provide bright light while shielding the leaves from hot direct sun. Keep the plant warm and sheltered; the RHS classifies the selection for indoor or greenhouse settings. ## Maintenance Water moderately during active growth and less in winter, allowing excess water to drain. Remove dry lower leaves as they age. If the canes become too tall for the room, prune in spring; rooted stem sections can provide new plants.
