About Tapertip liveforever

Tapertip liveforever is a compact Dudleya with narrow, tapering leaves arranged in a powdery rosette. It is native to coastal southern California and northern Baja California, where it grows in dry scrub and rocky sites. ## Form and season Flora of North America describes rosettes about 2–10 centimeters across and clumps roughly 10–40 centimeters wide. Flowers appear on branched stalks in spring; local planting guidance lists white and yellow flowers and a height and width near one foot. Plant it where the rosette and stalks can be seen without crowding. ([Flora of North America](https://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=1&taxon_id=250092057); [City of San Diego native plant list](https://www.sandiego.gov/sites/default/files/2025-07/native-plant-list-pdf.pdf)) ## Light and water Full sun is suitable in coastal gardens. Dudleyas need sharp drainage and are vulnerable to rot if kept wet during summer dormancy; water sparingly in hot weather and avoid wetting the leaves. A rock garden, container, or crevice with fast-draining soil is a useful setting. The species name and California range are recorded by Kew and Calflora; the current catalog images also identify the asset subject as Dudleya attenuata.
