Create design onlineAbout Dypsis ampasindavae
Catalogued as *Dypsis ampasindavae*, this Madagascar palm is currently accepted by Kew as *Chrysalidocarpus loucoubensis*; the former name is listed as nomenclaturally superfluous. ProjectPalm records Lavaboka as a common name and describes a solitary, pinnate palm that can reach about 15 m.
## Form and habitat
Kew places the species in north-west Madagascar, including Nosy Be, and describes its native biome as wet tropical. Its long feather-like leaves and tall single trunk suit a spacious tropical garden or conservatory where the crown can develop without crowding. The source-reported maximum is a wild-size reference, not a promise of garden growth.
## Growing notes
ProjectPalm recommends full sun or partial shade, loamy soil, and frequent watering that prevents the root zone from drying between waterings. Use a warm, humid position and make sure the planting site drains after irrigation. The species is reported as critically endangered in the wild, so rely on cultivated nursery stock and do not collect from natural populations.

## Maintenance
Keep moisture consistent during active growth, and adjust watering to local rainfall and drainage. Remove old or damaged fronds cleanly while leaving healthy green leaves in place.
